Full job description
Are you ready to lead front‑end subsea engineering studies?
Are you able to drive systems architecture and field development?
Partner with the best
Baker Hughes stands as a leading global energy‑technology company, delivering innovative solutions that make energy safer, cleaner, and more efficient across the entire value chain. Operating in more than 120 countries, the company blends deep industrial expertise with advanced engineering and digital technologies to support energy production, transformation, and decarbonization. With over a century of heritage, Baker Hughes partners with customers in oil and gas, industrial sectors, and emerging energy markets to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable energy future.
Fuel your passion
As a Principal / Senior Subsea Systems Engineer, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to lead Front End Engineering and Development studies, partnering with product experts to provide systems‑level guidance across projects and technology programs. You will conduct trade studies, support field development, and take ownership of cost, schedule, quality, and HS&E performance. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, ensuring smooth hand‑offs to tendering and execution teams, and supporting regional sales and commercial teams through early customer engagement and technical expertise.
As a Principal / Senior Subsea Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:
-
Leading front‑end subsea engineering studies, field development activities, and systems‑level trade‑off evaluations.
-
Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and driving process‑improvement and data‑driven decision‑making.
-
Developing subsea system concepts and optimizing designs across the full lifecycle, from feasibility through decommissioning.
-
Managing interfaces across global product teams, delivery partners, and clients while ensuring quality compliance.
-
Liaising with customers to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and support early‑engagement and commercial activities.
-
Supporting tendering, detailed engineering, execution phases, and proposal preparation as a technical contributor or reviewer.
-
Representing Baker Hughes at external events, promoting new technologies, and enhancing internal systems‑engineering capability.
To be successful in this role you will:
-
Have a master’s or bachelor’s degree, ideally with experience in Oil & Gas operations, subsea equipment, SURF, or offshore renewables.
-
Have strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
-
Have broad knowledge of project and engineering management processes, systems engineering, and decision‑analysis frameworks (INCOSE, AACE, APM, PRINCE2 desirable).
-
Have proven project‑engineering experience within a multidisciplinary environment.
-
Have experience designing and selecting solutions across areas such as field architecture, flow assurance, process engineering, SPS, risers, pipelines, controls, constructability, and installation.
-
Be able to travel internationally for customer meetings, project needs, and short‑term assignments.
