Overall Responsibilities

Supervising the undertaking of cleaning duties in accordance with an agreed schedule and to a required standard to ensure that students have a comfortable, clean, safe and well-maintained environment in which to work or otherwise, use the School facilities.

General Duties and Responsibilities

1. To supervise the cleaners ensuring their work is completed to an agreed schedule and to a required standard.

2. Managing understaffing and ensuring variations are dealt with.

3. Monitoring attendance and informing personnel at the School of absences.

4. To ensure that all staff comply with Health and Safety Legislation, School policy and good health and safety working practices in relation to the use of the school premises and grounds and own duties and responsibilities.

5. Report any breaches of safety regulations/policies or other safety concerns noticed to the Premises Health & Safety Manager

6. To manage the stock levels of equipment and materials and to request orders as required Premises Health & Safety Manager .

7. To ensure that cleaning equipment and materials are safely maintained and stored.

8. To undertake cleaning duties as required.

9. To move furniture and other items of equipment as necessary to allow for the effective performance of cleaning duties.

10. To ensure that in undertaking duties in rooms, that windows and doors are closed and locked when leaving rooms

11. To carry out such other tasks and duties as required by the line managers appropriate to the grading of the post.

12. Supervising cleaning & domestic staff on a day to day basis and ensuring that cleaning duties are carried out throughout the School in an effective and efficient way to meet required standards.

13. Training the cleaning staff to provide the highest possible standards of cleaning in all areas of the School.

14. Reporting all defects/hazards immediately to the caretakers and Premises Health & Safety Manager s.

15. To participate in training courses as required.

16. Ensuring safe working methods are adhered to.

Using electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to clean floors.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

1. To carry out duties placed on employees placed on staff by Health and Safety Legislation.

2. To adhere to all health and safety policies.

3. To be aware of and adhere to C.O.S.H.H. Regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to

Health (Amendment) Regulations 1991.

The above mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive, duties and responsibilities of the post may change as requirements and circumstances change.

The post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as requested by management that are broadly within the level of the post.
