Social Media & Content Assistant (Part-Time, Entry Level)

Salary £12.71 per hour
Hours: Part-time

About Us

We are a vibrant and creative art space in Royston, combining a fun and welcoming art class studio for all ages with a high-end gallery showcasing work we truly love. The gallery features a curated mix of local and international artists, with a focus on quality, originality, and contemporary appeal. Our art classes bring colour, energy, and creativity, while our gallery provides an elevated artistic experience.

Role Overview

The Social Media & Content Assistant will help shape our online presence by creating engaging, visually appealing content across our digital platforms. This entry-level role is perfect for someone at the beginning of their creative or marketing career who has a genuine interest in social media and visual arts. We’re looking for someone who uses their own initiative, works independently, and manages their hours in a way that suits them—as long as the work is completed consistently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and post content across social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
  • Capture photo and video content of classes, artwork, behind-the-scenes moments, and the gallery space
  • Research and create on-trend, visually engaging content
  • Write captions, short posts, and updates aligned with our brand tone
  • Manage a content calendar and schedule posts independently
  • Promote upcoming classes, events, exhibitions, and featured artists
  • Monitor comments and messages and flag important enquiries to the team
  • Maintain and update website information and class listings (guidance provided)
  • Create basic graphics using templates (e.g., Canva)
  • Share creative ideas for reels, stories, time-lapses, artist spotlights, and trending formats

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong interest in social media and visual arts
  • Familiarity with key platforms (Instagram and TikTok especially)
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Reliable, organised, and able to manage your own time
  • Good communication skills
  • Keen eye for visual style, trends, and creative presentation

Desirable (not required):

  • Experience using Canva or other simple design tools
  • Photography or video editing interest
  • Previous involvement in creative environments
