General Operative

Location: Rotherham

Salary: £25,999.86

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Operative to join our Estate Management team.. This is a hands-on role requiring a mix of practical ability, customer service, and teamwork. You’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that help maintain our properties to a high standard.

Role Responsibilities

  • Maintain gardens, hedges, and external pathways.
  • Remove snow and apply grit during winter months.
  • Weed spraying and grass cutting for communal areas
  • Act as a visible presence on estates, providing reassurance and customer service.
  • Conduct daily or weekly inspections of estates to identify hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations for cleaning chemicals and PPE use.
  • Maintain communal areas, stairwells, lifts, bin stores, and external spaces to high standards.
  • Remove litter, bulky waste, graffiti, and ensure safe, hygienic conditions.

Criteria:

  • Able to drive a 3.5 tone flat back
  • Previous experience in a estate management/ground maintenance
  • Full UK Driving licence

For these checks to be completed, we will require from you the relevant identification, including Proof of Address, References, a valid passport and proof that you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
