SM4RT Consultancy — Job Description

Role: Road Based Auditor (Road-Based, UK) — Permanent (PAYE)

Role summary

This is a permanent PAYE role.

This is a road-based auditing role with regular UK travel. Overnight stays are required some weeks (typically 2–3 nights depending on workload and location). Full training will be provided.

The role involves auditing boiler and heat pump installations to MCS and PAS Standards, so prior hands-on gas engineering experience is essential and familiarity with PAS and MCS would be advantageous.

Location

Home-based. You will travel from your home address to customer sites as scheduled.

Working hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • 30-minute paid break
  • 40 hours per week overtime where needed to be agreed prior.

Pay

  • £17 per hour (gross)
  • Paid monthly
  • Overtime paid at £17 per hour

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out audits of boiler and heat pump installations at customer sites across the UK, in line with Company requirements and training.
  • Travel between sites and manage your schedule professionally.
  • Complete audit documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
  • Maintain professional standards on customer sites and represent SM4RT Consultancy positively.
  • Use and care for Company equipment provided for the role (including laptop, phone, Wi‑Fi dongle and uniform).
  • Use the Company vehicle safely and responsibly, reporting any incidents, damage, or issues promptly.
  • Follow Company policies and procedures (including expenses, vehicle use, and IT/acceptable use).

Travel and overnight stays

  • This is a road-based role with regular UK travel.
  • Overnight stays are required some weeks (typically 2–3 nights depending on workload and location).
  • Travel can vary week to week depending on the schedule.

Essential requirements

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Clean UK driving licence.
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a DBS check.
  • Comfortable with regular travel and staying away from home when required.
  • Previous gas engineer experience (essential) — you must be competent to audit boiler and heat pump installations.
  • Existing or expired relevant qualifications (acceptable).

Pre-employment checks

  • DBS check.
  • Right to work verification.
  • Driving licence check.
