Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Worker to join our small agricultural team on a small 300 hectare family farm. This role involves hands-on work across various farm operations, including crop cultivation, animal care, and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of daily farm activities, contributing to the productivity and sustainability of our farm. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about agriculture and outdoor work to develop their skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across crops
  • Operating and maintaining farm machinery and power tools, including basic repairs and troubleshooting
  • Using hand tools for general maintenance tasks
  • Caring for farm animals, ensuring their health and wellbeing through feeding, cleaning, and monitoring
  • Applying agricultural practices to promote healthy plant growth and crop yield optimisation
  • Conducting routine equipment inspections and repairs to minimise downtime
  • Supporting general farm maintenance activities to keep the premises safe and functional
  • Assisting with crop planting, fertilising, pest control, and harvesting activities as required

Experience

  • Previous experience with irrigation systems or agricultural machinery is desirable but not essential; training will be provided where necessary
  • Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with equipment repair is advantageous
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a practical setting is beneficial
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping are preferred
  • Physical strength for heavy lifting and outdoor labour is required
  • Knowledge of animal care practices or horticultural techniques will be considered an asset
  • A proactive attitude towards maintenance tasks and equipment upkeep is important for success in this role

This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to gain practical experience in farming operations within a supportive team environment. Must be able to work solo or as part of a small team. Able to follow instruction, but also work off own initiative.
