Full job description

Are you a newly qualified GP looking for a supportive, flexible role that helps you grow and develop your career?
Join our Primary Care Network and make your first GP role rewarding, supported, and full of opportunities.

About the Role

We are seeking enthusiastic, forward-thinking GPs who have qualified within the last two years and have not yet held a substantive GP post to join our team on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. You may work across one or two of our GP practices, with opportunities to contribute to PCN-wide projects. We welcome applications for between 4 and 9 sessions per week, with a start date as soon as possible.

Why Join Us?

  • Structured Support & Mentorship – Experienced GP mentors and a friendly team to guide you through your first role.
  • Professional Development – Protected CPD time and opportunities to develop special interests.
  • Flexibility – Choose between 4 and 9 sessions per week
  • Career Progression – Gain experience across practices and PCN-wide projects to build a strong foundation for your future.

If you commit to 9 sessions (full-time), we will offer one CPD session and one special interest session in return.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Face-to-face and telephone consultations
  • Home visits and Care Home visits
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
  • Administrative tasks: queries, test results, referral letters (NHS/private), tasks, emails, and other correspondence promptly
  • Clinical management of patients, including initiating investigations, reviewing results, and making referrals
  • Developing care and treatment plans in consultation with patients, aligned with Practice protocols and wider guidance (e.g., NICE)

About You

You may have an interest in dermatology, women’s health, children’s health, psychiatry, public health, frailty, or other areas. Whatever your specialism, we’d love to hear from you. As an excellent GP, you will:

  • Work collaboratively across multi-professional and agency boundaries to improve patient outcomes
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in clinical decision-making, prioritising and triaging patient needs
  • Approach every interaction with compassion and respect, valuing the dignity of patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues

Flexibility is key - you may need to work at different locations within the PCN to meet patient needs.

Essential Requirements

  • Access to a car and willingness to travel across the Stort Valley & Villages PCN locality
  • Comfortable visiting patients in Care Homes or their own homes
  • Qualified within the last two years
  • No previous substantive GP role within a GP Practice

Your first GP role should be rewarding, supported, and full of opportunities - make it happen with us.

Applications may be reviewed as they are submitted. We will be in touch to let you know if you have been shortlisted for interview, as soon as we can.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
