This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects within a collaborative environment, utilising advanced engineering tools and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Schematics, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical failures or inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions to enhance system performance.
  • Utilise simulation tools like Simulink and MATLAB to model system behaviour and validate design concepts prior to implementation.
  • Design and optimise system components through system design principles, incorporating GD&T standards for precision manufacturing.
  • Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to automate mechanical processes effectively.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, drawings, and reports for engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with electrical and control systems using LabVIEW and other relevant tools.
  • Perform testing, validation, and verification of mechanical prototypes or systems to ensure functionality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  • Proven experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAD schematics design.
  • Strong knowledge of system design principles, GD&T standards, and mechanical component analysis.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, and programming PLCs for automation purposes.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively.
  • Familiarity with mechanical knowledge including materials selection, manufacturing processes, and tolerances.
  • Experience in using simulation tools for system modelling and validation is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst adhering to deadlines.

This position provides an engaging environment where innovation is encouraged, offering opportunities for professional growth within a forward-thinking organisation committed to engineering excellence.
