Equans is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our team at Manchester Joint Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

The post holder will lead and deliver complex, high-value projects (£5m+ portfolio) as a senior member of the project management team. Take full P&L accountability, mentor junior PMs, drive business development, and maintain strategic client relationships across various delivery models (principal/prime contractor, management fee, traditional contracting, design & build).

What will you deliver?

  • Lead projects from inception to post-completion assessment
  • Develop strategic, operational, and tactical programmes (e.g., RIBA Plan of Work)
  • Deliver or exceed agreed margins through proactive financial management
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks; deliver projects without LADs
  • Provide strategic commercial input to senior management
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Lead bid submissions and tender processes
  • Build and maintain strategic client relationships
  • Contribute to pipeline development and revenue forecasting
  • Monitor project financial performance using 'Gestion' and business systems
  • Ensure compliance with RIBA stages, CDM regulations, and statutory requirements
  • Manage Work Method Statements, Risk Assessments, COSHH, and CDM documentation
  • Maintain SafeSite compliance and conduct regular audits
  • Maintain highest H&S standards across all sites (target: 0 AFR)
  • Provide clear direction and leadership to project teams, junior PMs, technical staff, and contractors

Who are we looking for?

  • RICS, CIOB, CEng, or Graduate/Higher Technician status in construction technology (preferably building services
  • Previous experience of varied contracting/PM consultancy; proven track record delivering £5m+ projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of RIBA stages and CDM regulations; ability to deliver across multiple delivery models; strong construction knowledge including project programmes, task sequencing, and critical path analysis
  • Strong understanding of P&L management, COP, and ACTU processes
  • Proven ability to deliver/exceed margin targets
  • Commercial negotiation skills at senior level
  • Experience in direct line/matrix management of technical, professional, and trade staff
  • Experience in PFI and government contracts/environments-Desirable
  • Strong understanding of listed buildings and heritage projects-Desirable
  • Knowledge of healthcare or critical infrastructure environments-Desirable

This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
