Full job description

Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Global Junior Developer to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £32,725 to £44,275 per annum depending on experience.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As Global Junior Developer, the successful candidate will play an integral role to support the development and maintenance industry-leading websites and software applications that are fit for purpose Working collaboratively with online, campaigns, and marketing and other specialist teams, stakeholder delivery, as well as working directly with the stakeholders where needed. To analyse business requirements and internal design as well as develop system requirements. To develop structured clean reusable code. To focus on the quality and best technical approach to support the overall delivery of human appeal websites in line with overall organisational strategy and objectives.

We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

    Key duties and responsibilities of the Global Junior Developer:

    Successfully support the development and maintenance of;

  • Industry-leading websites that are fit for purpose
  • Software applications that are fit for purpose
  • To successfully analyse business requirements and internal design as well as develop system requirements.
  • Develop structured clean reusable code.

    What were looking for in our Global Junior Developer:

    Education

  • Computer Science graduate or equivalent, Boot camp graduate, or Self-taught programmer with relevant experience and proven track record.

    Experience

  • Experience with payment systems
  • Familiarity with advanced Google Analytics and AdWords tracking
  • Knowledge of Git or TeamCity
  • Understanding of REST and SOAP APIs
  • Experience with a CMS
  • Experience with international / multilingual sites
  • Experience in agile project methodologies

    Skills

  • (Good set of full stack skills including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (e.g. jQuery, Angular, React, Vue
  • A keen eye for detail on the front end and code quality on the back end
  • A proven track record of delivering to a high standard
  • Awareness of SEO and security best practices
  • Proficient IT skills. MS Office Suite
  • Programming skills

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector

  • Safeguarding bright futures for more than 22,000 vulnerable orphans in 9 countries. Our one-to-one sponsorship programme has a built-in school attendance requirement while covering the cost of food, housing, medical care, and learning materials.
  • Pioneering technologically innovative infrastructure projects in Pakistan, like designing and building a 25-km embankment on the Chenab River in Pakistan.   • Recovering lost livelihoods for vulnerable farmers in Gaza by planting 80,000 olive trees since 1991. The farming project provides each farmer with 30-40 prime olive trees so they can establish a vibrant, sustainable crop that yields not just food but income for generations.
  • Restoring safe and secure residential spaces in Syria, like the construction of a new town with 1,000 newly constructed homes in Al Zahoor.
