About the Role
As part of Xpedite’s exciting growth plans, we are seeking a Software Tester to join our Intelligence Delivery Team (IDT) in Bath. As a software tester, you'll be involved in the quality assurance of software development and deployment. You'll conduct automated and manual tests to ensure Xpedite's software is fit for purpose, and any bugs or issues are removed within a product before it gets deployed.
This role involves collaboration within the team and across departments. It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to influence digital and technological advancements within an SME.
Responsibilities
As a Software Tester, your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct comprehensive software quality assurance testing to ensure product integrity.
- Collaborate with the development team to improve current test cases and streamline testing processes.
- Identify, document, and track software defects found during testing.
- Work closely with developers to reproduce issues and ensure they are resolved.
- Participate in the design and development of detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality.
- Meet with stakeholders to understand the scope of projects.
- Work towards departmental and project deadlines.
- Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Mentoring Junior Software Testers.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
- Knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience in software quality assurance or software development.
- Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
- Experience in source control platforms (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab).
Desirable
- Qualification or degree in relevant discipline, preferably STEM subjects.
- ISTQB® Certified Software Tester (or equivalent).
- Ability to use, understand and learn software languages.
- Experience or knowledge of working with agile methodology.
- Basic knowledge of penetration testing.
