Full job description

Are you a keen gardener looking for a professional opportunity? Do you have some horticultural knowledge but would like to improve it, whilst working? We are a fairly unique company, because we are all real gardeners and we love plants! We don't do grounds maintenance and we don't do landscaping. But we do love a nice cuppa and chat with our customers (especially about plants!).

Main duties of this role include:

  • Weeding
  • Pruning, training & deadheading
  • Soil improvement
  • Making plant recommendations and planting new borders/improving existing ones
  • Identifying and treating pests and diseases
  • Sharing gardening ideas with our customers over a cuppa!

All staff work autonomously, building strong relationships with their customers and really feeling a sense of achievement from helping their customers to improve their gardens, with the support of a friendly team around them.

This position requires you to work outside in all weather conditions. You must have a driving license and your own transport. Customers will be located anywhere in Northamptonshire, but we do try and group them together and allocate according to the gardeners location.

These positions are fixed term contracts, for a period of 9 or 12 months. During this period gardeners will receive a variety of experience and training and support from a Lead Gardener. They are suited to individuals who have no industry experience, but a keen interest in horticulture, or perhaps are studying towards an RHS qualification. At the end of the fixed term contract, gardeners will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent position, working in larger gardens. Contracted hours of work are either 6.5 (over one day) or 13 (over 2 days) per week. There is also an expectation that gardeners will complete up to 4 hours training per month, some of which will be online and some will be in person.

What to expect in return:

  • Ongoing training and support, from a Lead Gardener
  • All tools, equipment and uniform provided
  • Paid travel expenses
  • Company pension scheme
  • Discounted plants
  • Achievable career progression

This is not a grounds maintenance or landscaping position, it is a horticultural position. It requires excellent plant knowledge and a passion for creating and maintaining beautiful gardens. We provide domestic gardening services to customers across Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Please submit a cover letter with your application, detailing relevant experience and why you think that you would be a good fit for our team.

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Employee discount
