YGS Landscapes is a long-standing, family-run business operating throughout Devon and Cornwall. Incorporated in 2006, YGS now employs over 36 full-time staff, delivering landscaping, fencing, planting, and grounds maintenance for developers, housing associations, local authorities, and commercial clients.

YGS works within the public sector on a range of public realm and biodiversity projects across the South West.

Job Overview

We are looking for Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining outdoor environments to a high standard, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and well presented.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and takes pride in maintaining green spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, pruning, and weed control
  • Undertake planting, mulching, and turfing as required
  • Operate and maintain power tools and machinery (mowers, strimmers, blowers)
  • Support the maintenance manager in delivering site work to client standards
  • Maintain equipment in clean and safe condition
  • Follow site safety standards and ensure all work areas are left tidy
  • Represent YGS Landscapes professionally at all times

Requirements

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture (commercial experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of tools and machinery used in maintenance work
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
  • Valid CITB HS&E Operative Test pass (CSCS card preferred)
  • Reliable, proactive, and a good team player
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude and pride in workmanship
