Head Chef – Daytime Bistro Café

Hartley Wintney, Hampshire

We are looking for a passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen at The Courtyard, a quality, food-led daytime café cooking with exceptional ingredients and locally sourced produce.

The Kitchen & Food
Our kitchen is well equipped with modern catering equipment, featuring an open-plan kitchen within the café and additional prep space on site, allowing ample room for daily preparation and service. Menus are seasonally inspired, rooted in traditional cooking techniques, and offer a refined mix of classic British and continental dishes, delivered with professional, high-quality service.

The Role

  • Lead, train and support the kitchen team
  • Create and deliver seasonal menus using fresh, quality ingredients
  • Oversee food planning, preparation and service
  • Uphold dish specifications, presentation and consistency
  • Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and kitchen organisation
  • Manage stock control, rotation, ordering and suppliers
  • Minimise waste and care for fresh ingredients
  • Work closely with front of house and engage positively with guests
  • Report directly to the owners

Hours

  • Approx. 8am–5.30pm, 5 days per week, 2 days off
  • Flexibility required for occasional private events and evening services

About You

  • Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready to step up
  • Proven experience in a fresh-food kitchen
  • Presentable and confident in an open-kitchen environment
  • Organised, calm and detail-focused leader
  • Passionate about quality food and hospitality
