Maintaining user safety on Indeed

Indeed works to keep jobseekers safe and protect their personal information. Please keep these guidelines in mind when posting jobs or company content. Misusing personal data, photos or videos can harm jobseekers and cause privacy or fairness problems, and may result in the removal of your content from Indeed.

Asking for Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

You should not ask for personal information that isn't needed in the job post or application. Unnecessary PII includes (but is not limited to):

  • Full date of birth

  • Government-issued IDs (for example, National Insurance number, driving licence)

  • Financial details (for example, bank account or credit card numbers)

  • Sensitive personal documents (for example, copies of passports or birth certificates)

  • Unnecessary contact information (for example, home address)

Photos in job posts and Company Pages

Photo-posting capabilities are only available for clients who have purchased an Employer Branding Hub Spotlight Page subscription.

Photos can help jobseekers understand your workplace and company culture. However, to keep Indeed safe and professional, all photos must meet the following standards:

Relevance and ownership

  • Photos must relate to your company or the job

  • You must own the photo or have permission to use it

  • Don't use stock photos unless they are customised to represent your company

Do not include

  • Photos of children (unless it's for a job like childcare)

  • Blurry, pixellated or poor-quality images

  • Unsafe or unhealthy working conditions

  • Hate speech, violent, vulgar or adult content

  • External links, QR codes or ads

  • Sensitive data (addresses, IDs, financial details or private company info)

by uploading a photo, you confirm you have the legal right to use it and agree to Indeed's Terms of Service.

Requesting photos

Requests for photos or headshots are not acceptable in the application process.

Exceptions

  • Acting or modelling jobs

Requesting jobseeker videos

Video interviews can save time for both you and job candidates. Jobseekers can record at their convenience and redo answers. However, using videos for other purposes can:

  • Create privacy risks

  • Harm the jobseeker experience

  • Leads to misuse or discrimination

You may use videos for:

  • 'Getting to know you' questions ('What's the last book you read?')

  • Job-specific screening questions

  • Acting or modelling jobs

You may not use videos for:

  • Marketing or advertising purposes

  • Selling video footage

  • Sharing interviews online

  • Requiring unrelated tasks in video

Next steps

If your job post or company content is flagged for violating any of these policies:

  1. Review the policy section related to your violation (for example, PII, photos or videos).

  2. Remove or edit the content that does not meet Indeed's standards.

  3. Re-upload or update your content with compliant information

  4. If your post was rejected because of photo quality, please upload a clearer or sharper image.

  5. For repeated issues, contact Indeed support for help understanding the requirements.
