Special Job Advert Types

This policy applies to all employers advertising vacancies on Indeed. Our goal is to keep job searches simple, clear and fair for everyone. Each vacancy should describe one real position so jobseekers know exactly what they're applying for.

We understand that some employers use unique or non-traditional application methods. These are fine as long as the vacancy itself is clearly defined.

Adverts that group many vacancies, use general or unconventional applications or promote unclear roles may need sponsorship to stay visible on Indeed.

Policy requirements

Tailored applications

Your job advert may not need sponsorship if:

  • It matches one clear, specific vacancy
  • It lists more than one available shift for the same role
  • You split several vacancies into separate job adverts
  • You use plural job titles (for example, 'Servers' instead of 'Server')

General recruitment and applications

Your job advert may need sponsorship if:

  • It's for a specific role, but leads to a general application
  • It promotes several different vacancies in one adverts

Job fairs, recruitment events and career fairs

Adverts that promote or advertise recruitment events must be sponsored or submitted through Indeed Recruitment Events (IRE).

Note: Single employer events do not require sponsorship in the UK.

Advertising your event

  • Applies to adverts created for the event itself, like 'Recruitment Event: Retail Roles'.
  • These rules apply to all event adverts, even when the event isn't managed through IRE.
  • The job title, description and location must describe the event, not a single vacancy.

Individual vacancies in Indeed Recruitment Events

  • Vacancies that are part of an IRE (for example, 'Sales Associate' at a recruitment fair) must still follow all job advert rules.
  • The job title and location should describe the specific vacancy, not the event.

Platform and app-based gigs

What are gig opportunities?

Gig opportunities are short-term or task-based jobs that workers choose one at a time. These can be single tasks, shifts or ongoing projects. Workers can accept or decline tasks at any time. These vacancies are usually offered through apps or websites that connect clients and workers.

Important: All gig opportunities need sponsorship to appear on our platform.

Common features of gig platforms:

  • The platform guarantees payment between the client and the worker.
  • Work is temporary and may change from week to week.
  • Workers choose their schedule and can work as much or as little as they want.
  • The clients are usually individuals.

Post corporate or office-based roles for gig platforms as regular jobs. These aren't gig opportunities.

Allowed

We allow real task-based or shift-based gig jobs where:

  • Workers can choose which shifts or tasks to take
  • The platform guarantees payment and supports real work
  • The platform is already active in the vacancy's location

Examples include:

  • Delivery or ride-hailing apps that operate in your region
  • Task-based apps offering paid household or online work

Not allowed

  • Platforms focused on renting, lending or selling goods. Examples are Airbnb, Turo, Etsy or Gumtree
  • Marketplaces that don't create paid work between workers and clients
  • Apps that haven't launched yet or don't have active job adverts in the posted location.
  • Referral code posts or posts used for personal promotion or financial gain
  • Posts that advertise platforms only, without real work available
  • 'Passive income' offers, fee-based opportunities or personal referral links
  • One-off tasks that offer a reward for a single action (for example: taking a single survey for a gift card)

AI training gigs

Requirements

  • The job title must include 'AI Trainer' (or a similar term).
  • The salary field should show the average pay per task.
  • If the advert doesn't use Indeed Apply, the link must go to the platform's sign-up or task page.
  • The company name must be real and specific, not generic.
  • The job advert must meet all gig platform requirements
  • Only post where real work is available

Not allowed

  • Confidential or generic company names
  • Vacancies in places where the platform has no active work
  • Third-party forms like Google Forms for applications
