Troubleshooting Issues with Indeed Questions Platform (IQP)

Sometimes screening questions are set up incorrectly within your Applicant Tracking System (ATS), which can cause issues with Indeed Apply. When Indeed finds these problems, we might temporarily turn off Indeed Apply for those jobs. Your jobs will stay live on Indeed, but jobseekers will be redirected to your career site to apply instead. You or your ATS partner will need to fix the screening questions before Indeed Apply can turn back on.

What are IQP errors?

IQP errors are problems with your screening questions when using an ATS. These problems stop Indeed Apply from working correctly. The most common error is duplicate answers. This means the same answer shows up more than once in a single question.

These errors can cause:

  • Failed applications
  • Broken application forms
  • Bad experiences for jobseekers

Indeed watches for these errors to help protect jobseekers and keep applications working.

Why Indeed Apply turns off

Indeed might temporarily turn off Indeed Apply if ATS screening question errors cause a significant number of application failures. We do this to protect jobseekers from having a bad experience.

What happens when Indeed Apply turns off

When Indeed Apply is temporarily off:

  • Your jobs stay live on Indeed
  • Jobseekers can still see your jobs
  • Jobseekers are redirected to your career site to apply
  • They cannot apply through Indeed Apply
Important: Indeed Apply does not turn back on automatically. You must fix the issue first. Then Indeed needs to check and confirm the fix works.

Steps to troubleshoot IQP

How to fix the issue yourself

If you manage your own screening questions in your ATS:

  1. Look at the affected questions
  2. Find any duplicate answers
  3. Edit the duplicates so each answer is unique
  4. Contact Indeed to confirm the fix

After you fix the issue, Indeed needs to confirm it's resolved before turning Indeed Apply back on. Once they've confirmed the fix, Indeed will re-enable Indeed Apply.

When to work with your ATS partner

You might need help from your ATS or integration partner if they:

  • Manage your integration
  • Control your screening question setup
  • Handle your technical configuration

In these cases:

  • Contact your ATS partner
  • Ask them to fix the duplicate answers
  • Have them confirm the fix with Indeed
  • Wait for Indeed to re-enable Indeed Apply

Your ATS partner is responsible for making the technical fix and contacting Indeed to confirm resolution.
