Full job description

Class 1 Tramper Driver (CE Licence) – Immediate Start

Location: Thatcham
Pay: £17.00–£19.06 per hour + £25 per night out
Shifts: Monday to Friday (Tramping)
Start Date: ASAP

Drivers Direct Recruitment are recruiting experienced HGV 1 drivers for a long-term opportunity in Thatcham. This role involves delivering pallets of cardboard boxes and offers consistent work with the potential for temp-to-perm conversion for the right person, alternatively we have on going work there to cover sickness and holidays.

Key Details:

  • Start times between 04:00 and 07:00
  • On average 50 hours per week
  • Tramping, Monday to Friday
  • Minimum 2 loads per day
  • Assessment incentive paid after completing one full week
  • Temp-to-perm after 10 weeks
  • Retention bonus (structure to be confirmed once permanent)

Fleet & Technology:

  • 74-plate DAF cabs with microwaves, fridges, and 360° AI cameras
  • AI safety tech monitors fatigue, mobile phone use, and smoking
  • PDA system used daily; performance bonuses available once permanent

Site Operations:

  • 24/7 operation supporting flexible planning and coverage
  • Full training provided, including PDA usage
  • Consistent work with repeat customers

Candidate Requirements:

  • Valid CE licence with minimum 6 month's experience driving CE
  • Full CPC and Digi Tacho & Clean Licence
  • Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious attitude.
  • Willingness to follow procedures and use technology correctly.
