Experience of using accounting or bookkeeping software is a bonus, as is any previous work in a support role in an  administrative position. 

 

Accounting Assistant education and training requirements

Accounting assistants need to have five GCSEs, including maths, or equivalent qualifications. This may be enough for many entry level roles. A-levels and a degree are not necessary for all roles, but some more senior positions may require some further education. Relevant qualifications are a bonus, such as a City and Guilds Level One or Two in Bookkeeping or Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications in Accounting. Certifications in any aspect of business or finance can be a bonus.
