Sales experience is a bonus as banking roles involve promoting products and services to customers. 


Banker education and training requirements

Many banks offer in-house training programmes to enable entry-level banking staff to gain qualifications and internal promotion opportunities. Some banks offer apprenticeships which allow staff to train while working, gaining valuable experience alongside qualifications which can go up to degree level. Senior Bankers typically need a degree in a relevant subject such as finance and accounting, economics, business studies or maths. Certification from an organisation such as the London Institute of Banking and Finance or the Chartered Banker Institute is a bonus.

These roles are typically based in corporate offices, with staff reporting to a Team Leader or directly to the Underwriters.
