Full job description

Production Operative (Future Packing Supervisor)

Pay - Competitive, depending on experience

Build a career, not just a job.

Mayfield Eggs is a family-run free-range egg business supplying premium restaurants, hotels, Oxford colleges and thousands of home delivery customers across Oxfordshire. We're looking for someone who wants more than just a production job. This is a hands-on role within our modern egg packing operation. It is a physically active, fast-paced production environment where quality, teamwork and attention to detail are essential. For the right individual, this role offers the opportunity to develop towards a future Packing & Dispatch Supervisor position as Mayfield Eggs continues to grow. No previous egg industry experience is required. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and ambition to develop.

What you'll be doing - Working as part of our packing team, you'll learn every aspect of our operation, including:

  • Egg grading and packing
  • Operating our automated egg grading equipment
  • Quality control and food safety
  • Preparing customer orders
  • Building delivery loads for the following day
  • Stock rotation and warehouse organisation
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment
  • Supporting deliveries and farm work when required
  • Working closely with our Operations Manager to understand how the business operates

As your experience grows, you'll gradually take on more responsibility and develop your technical, organisational and leadership skills.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has an excellent work ethic
  • Takes pride in doing a job properly
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Can stay organised under pressure
  • Notices small details and takes ownership of quality
  • Is practical and enjoys solving problems
  • Looks for ways to improve how things are done
  • Wants to build a long-term career rather than simply finding another job
  • Is comfortable using machinery and learning new skills
  • Holds a full UK driving licence

Who this role would suit: This role would suit someone who is ambitious, enjoys learning new skills and wants to build a long-term career within a growing family business. We are investing in the right individual with the aim of developing one of our future operational leaders.

What you'll receive

  • Full training
  • Opportunity to learn every area of the packing operation
  • A structured development pathway with increasing responsibility
  • The opportunity to develop towards a future supervisory role, based on your performance and development
  • Friendly family-run working environment
  • The opportunity to play an important role in the future growth of Mayfield Eggs

About Mayfield Eggs - We're proud to be an independent family business with more than 60 years of poultry farming experience. If you're looking for a business where hard work is recognised, high standards matter and there is genuine opportunity to develop your career, we'd love to hear from you.
