Reports to: Managing Director

Location: Heart Of England Conference and Events Centre, Coventry

Job Purpose: The General Manager will provide full support to the Managing Director. They will oversee the day-to-day operational, commercial and tactical functions of the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre. This includes managing all staff and services: Operations, Accommodation, Catering, Finances, HR, Marketing, Advertising and Sales. This senior role includes strategic planning in collaboration with the owner to ensure the venue’s growth and success.

Key responsibilities:

· To ensure implementation of, and adherence to, all company policy and procedures

· To plan and develop a realistic growth and business development plan

· To take responsibility for the Sales and Marketing, including pricing, promotions and promotional materials, image, brand and profile

· Research markets to identify new business

· To complete competitor analysis on a regular basis

· To manage budgets and financial plans

· Communicating daily with the management team, planning work schedules and checking client requirements

· To provide effective day to day management of all teams

· To proactively identify any associated additional business revenue

· To understand client issues and implement timely action to rectify

· To provide both formal and informal training for the team as necessary and ensure this is fully documented

· To achieve budget targets over the whole of the business

· To lead by example in maintaining high standards

· To apply current legal and in-house HR procedures, to ensure the retention of good staff and the provision of high-quality services

· Ensure total compliance with health and safety, licensing laws and other legal regulations

· Day to day troubleshooting and addressing problems as they arise

Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience in general management or a similar role

Strong administrative skills with attention to detail

Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Sales and Marketing background

Ability to work independently and take initiative

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle stressful situations

Flexibility and willing to adapt to various challenges

Knowledge of Hubspot and Rezlynx would be advantageous

Employment Terms:

Full time position

5 days over 7 to include weekends and evenings

Live in option is available

Competitive salary plus on target bonus

Work Location: In person

Other Requirements:

Hold a full driving license due to rural location Strong character is essential
No criminal record Background in Events/Hospitality would be advantageous
Be flexible in working patterns in line with business needs and special events

Job Type: Full-time
