Full job description

Working closely with our Operations Manager, you will be responsible for setting up and running our weddings, private functions and conferences.

The York Pavilion Hotel is a privately owned and operated hotel located in Fulford, just 2 miles from York city centre.

This is a great opportunity for someone to develop their skills, working closely with our Operations Manager and General Manager.

This job role is 5 days over 7 and does include evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
We offer weekly pay, a company pension, meals on duty, paid breaks and discounted stays at other Best Western hotels. There is also an opportunity to join our Bike 2 Work scheme.

The role is as follows:

To manage and run functions effectively.
To be the point of contact for all guests in the hotel ensuring their needs are dealt with professionally and appropriately to resolve any issues.

Responsibilities
Customer Service

Provide a warm welcome to all guests and to assist them in a polite and efficient manner
Set up and supervise breakfast service, Functions, Conferences and Weddings in line with the company standards and food hygiene regulations
Take full responsibility for the hotel operation during the shift and be aware of the hotel’s mechanical functions e.g. heating, electrics, fuse box
Co-ordinate the daily 5pm meeting, ensuring the correct people attend and all agenda items are covered and communicated back to the team
Assist with any other area of the business, as required e.g. assisting reception with a busy check in
Finance & Accounting
Ensure that all charges are processed correctly and be fully aware of the hotel cash handling procedures and ensure the team adhere to them
Ensure any voids or refunds are carried out in line with company procedures
Revenue & Sales
Ensure that the menus are always displayed and are in clean and in good order
Be aware of the content of all menu items and the hotel’s wine and bar list
Be fully aware of daily business and activities in the hotel and promote wherever possible
Personnel & Training
Effectively manage the Food and Beverage staff
Ensure team members appearances are to the correct high standards
To ensure good working relationships with colleagues in the Food and Beverage Department and other departments of the hotel
Train and develop team members accordingly
Attend training when required
Maintaining Product and Health, Safety & Security
Keep food stored in line with food hygiene regulations
In the absence of the Head of Department, to receive, check and sign for deliveries ensuring correct and secure storage
On activation of the fire alarm, co-ordinate an evacuation in line with the hotel’s fire evacuation procedures and legislation
To be fully aware of and adhere to all policies and procedures in the handbook and all Health, Safety and Fire procedures
Attend statutory training when required
