It's an exciting time for a new Director of Sales at New Place Hotel. There is an exceptional on property sales team with positive growth momentum and you will be supported by an experienced Director of Business Development and the Legacy Hotels Commercial Team.

New Place is a stunning hotel and conference venue. Ornate wrought-iron gates welcome you to a charming venue ideally suited for meetings, events, weddings, and leisure breaks. A unique property that seamlessly blends traditional and modern spaces over 32 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, including our Grade I listed manor house which houses a restaurant, a bar and meeting rooms a conference centre and multiple event venues.

Your key focus will be on establishing and managing local and national corporate and agency accounts with targeted growth in residential conference, groups and corporate transient business.

You will lead proactive campaigns to support the sales team in driving social banqueting, meeting and events sales and support with wedding sales and marketing.

Whilst primarily a revenue generating role, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership team, with joint responsibility for hotel profitability.

The Director of Sales reports to the General Manager and is supported by the Director of Business Development (Part-time), and works closely with the Legacy Commercial team.

The New Place brand is evolving with internal actions to increase the impact of social media and marketing activities. The Director Of Sales will play a pivotal role in protecting the brand identity and realising revenue growth from marketing activities with agreed return on investment guidelines to support the hotel operating profit.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, agree and implement the hotel commercial sales strategy, delivering a quarterly hotel commercial sales plan
  • Agree and manage new business targets and account management targets
  • Attend regular senior team meetings to ensure a full understanding of budgets and targets along with regular Business Reviews, Finance and Board meetings, as required
  • Identify sales opportunities for residential and non-residential clients, carrying out extensive local research
  • Influence key decision makers through initiative, persistence and a professional approach
  • Maximise sales leads and referrals, and play an active role in hotel show rounds and familiarisation visits
  • Drive and keep up-to-date on brand and industry initiatives, ensuring awareness and market knowledge shared
  • Ensure focus is on proactive sales, driving demand whilst assisting the reactive team in profitable conversion
  • Ownership of the RFP process at property level, working with distribution partners, revenue team and the Legacy Management Commercial Director.
  • Share responsibility for all Corporate & Agency communications via soft and hard mailings/marketing and social media / promotions
  • Maintain and develop close working relationships with key travel agents and hotel booking agents
  • Ensure the maintenance of HubSpot (CRM), all leads and contacts to be entered and the deal process updated as required
  • Support the Director of Business Development with local networking, charity partnership and sustainability agenda activities, representing the hotel as required to maximise the benefit of local activities to raise the hotel profile and generate leads.
  • Deliver sales for the business in line with the agreed pricing policy and budgeted HOP targets
  • Be familiar with all hotels in the portfolio and maintain full awareness of new developments
  • Establish good working relationships with other Senior Managers and Sales team to co-ordinate our approach and refer leads
  • Attend Exhibitions and promotional events as agreed in commercial sales plan
  • Attend and training courses and conferences as necessary

  • Demonstrable experience in hotel sales, preferably with local knowledge
  • Excellent communication, presentation and sales skills
  • Ability to effectively influence key customers / corporate contacts / agents / business owners and senior management team to support the sales growth targets
  • Knowledge of all market segments and sales opportunities
  • Experience of developing and implementing successful sales and marketing strategies
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and ability to negotiate
  • Knowledge of revenue management and account profitability, and RFP systems
  • Financial management skills and commercial awareness of delivering budgeted figures
  • Dynamic approach and adaptable to change
