Full job description

Russell Court Nursing Home is a family run Nursing Home in Longfield. We have 40 beds in our home. We are looking for a Head of Housekeeping to undertake the following duties-

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES.

1. To , lead and manage the domestic team including laundry staff, and to ensure the home achieves the highest standard in both home presentation and cleanliness.

2. To maintain standards as required in adherence to the company’s policies and procedures.

3. To provide a high standard of cleaning ,laundry and presentation within the home, maintain an efficient, cost effective and hygienic working environment.

4. To ensure all cleaning and laundry consumables are ordered from our current suppliers.

5. To ensure that deliveries are checked against order forms and action any discrepancies immediately

6. To ensure a stock take is completed at the end of every month.

7. To implement cleaning schedules for the entire home and ensure that they are adhered to.

8. Maintain health and safety in the home by adhering to the company’s policies and procedures at all times.

9. To organize deep cleaning as required.

10. To prepare and maintain a 4 week rota, ensuring all teams are adequately staffed.

11. To ensure all rooms are presented in an attractive manner, and action any issues found.

12. To press laundry and residents’ clothing where necessary.

13. To ensure the standard of the residents clothing is to the highest standard, including ironing.

14. Ensure that all residents wardrobes and drawers are kept clean , neat and tidy.

15. Ensure that all products used adhere to COSSH guidelines and that these are displayed for staff to access.

16. To consult residents with residents on a regular basis to ensure their needs and choices are being met. Obtain feedback from the residents to ensure we are meeting their needs at all times.

17. To attend mandatory training courses relevant to the position at the direction of the manager.

18. To attend resident meeting as required by the Home Manager

19. To attend and lead in domestic team meetings as required.

20. To co-operate with requests from the Home Manager and residents whenever possible.

21. To ensure that the laundry complies to current infection control guidelines.

22. To cover domestic duties if required.

23. To support the domestic team and lead by example at all times.

The post is for 30 hours per week over 5 days, and will require you to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Skills

  • Proven experience as housekeeper
  • Experience in cleaning trade skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials and sources
  • Familiarity with national safety rules and regulations e.g COSHH
