Full job description

Job Introduction
An opportunity has come up to join Bigham’s for 12 months to really make a difference to our people systems landscape. This is working within the People team and enjoying being part of our wonderful business. This is a lovely opportunity to take a project from start to finish, whilst working within a team who really see the importance of this role.

The role of People Systems lead is responsible for the overall change of system. Having recently changed to a new provider we are needing to change again, due to that product being removed from the market and this role will manage that change. We therefore have lots of recent experience and ideas of making things better to ensure our HRIS and Payroll approach is really efficient and accurate.
Main Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:

1. Discovery & Assessment (Months 1–3)
  • Immerse in current HRIS and payroll processes to understand existing challenges and requirements.
  • Learn monthly payroll cycles to gain practical insight into system complexities.
  • Gather feedback and lessons learned to inform a recommendation and way forward for the new system’s requirements and design.
2. Implementation & Migration (Months 4–10)
  • Lead the data migration and configuration of the new HRIS, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver a seamless transition.
  • Coordinate parallel payroll runs to validate the new system before full deployment.
  • Engage and work with team members as subject matter experts throughout the project.
3. Embedding & Handover (Months 11–12)
  • Document processes and create learning materials. Upskill the People Team and managers on the new system’s functionality.
  • Provide hyper-care support to ensure stability and resolve post-launch issues.
  • Ensure the system is fully embedded and the team is confident to manage ongoing operations independently.
The Ideal Candidate
What Are We Looking For?

  • Proven experience in Payroll processing and HRIS implementation, either as a project lead or key subject matter expert, ideally within a manufacturing or similarly complex environment.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, with the ability to translate business needs and policies into effective system requirements.
  • Resilience and adaptability—comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and navigating ambiguity.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and engaging cross-functional teams.
  • Positive energy, supplier management experience, and a collaborative approach to driving change.

  • Willingness to travel regularly between sites (Park Royal and Somerset), with the understanding that work is done better when we are together.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Team collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving, with an eye for detail
  • Results orientation and ability to get to action, so the detail doesn’t prevent progress
