Mitsubishi Air Conditioning Systems launched its operations in the UK air conditioning market in 1985. The Livingston factory, located 18 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, was officially registered in 1993.

Production began in 1994, and M-ACE serves as the central hub for Mitsubishi's heating and air-conditioning operations in Europe, employing around 1000 personnel across its seven locations.

Currently functioning as the group's hub for the air conditioning sector in Europe, the facility collaborates with other group factories located in Japan, Thailand, and China.

In 2009, M-ACE began to expand by entering the domestic heating market with the production of air-to-water heat pumps.

By utilising innovative and high-quality proven technologies, M-ACE manufactures air conditioners and heat pumps with built-in advanced intelligence. Looking to the future, we will continue to introduce new models to comply with European regulations and meet diverse market needs.

A permanent vacancy has arisen for Production Engineering Assistant Section Manager within our manufacturing facility in Livingston, West Lothian.

Reporting to the Production Engineering Section Manager, the successful Candidate’s main focus will be on implementation of enhanced engineering systems in order to produce the required range and volume of products.

The main duties of the post include:

  • Supporting and maintaining compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards
  • Setting and achieving section KPIs and performance targets
  • Driving manufacturing innovation, including through digitisation, SMART factory and automation initiatives
  • Managing a team of engineers and technicians and supporting their career development through training and coaching
  • Driving continuous improvement activities, driving performance, efficiency, quality and reliability gains
  • Leading and planning and introduction of new engineering solutions, including new equipment and new models
  • Assist with planning, management and control of budgets for both Operating Expenses and Capital Investment.


The key skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Preferably 10+ years in relevant engineering role with some management/supervisory experience
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing and/or process engineering experience
  • Experience of working in a Lean, Kaizen and Continuous Improvement environment
  • Minimum HND qualification in mechanical or manufacturing disciplines
  • Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferrable, but not essential
  • AutoCAD knowledge
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written, and effective meeting skills
