Full job description

Intern - New Build Team

Job description
Are you interested in housing, sustainability, and improving the way we build homes for the future? Do you enjoy research, data analysis, and creating resources that make a real difference to people’s lives? We’re looking for an enthusiastic intern to help us gather insights and develop tools that enhance our new council homes.

This internship will run from Monday 15th June to Friday 4th September and will be located at our head office in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire.

What You'll Do:
  • Design and implement a tenant feedback survey for residents in our new-build properties to understand their experience and gather valuable data.
  • Develop a “Welcome to Your New Home” handbook, focusing on how tenants can make the most of sustainability features like air-source heat pumps and mechanical ventilation.
  • Analyse potential savings for tenants from different energy-efficient measures, helping to inform future design and specification decisions.
  • Support ongoing improvements to our new-build specification based on feedback and data insights.

Perfect for You If:
  • You have strong research and analytical skills.
  • You’re creative and can produce clear, engaging resources for tenants.
  • You’re interested in housing, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
  • You can manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively with different teams.
  • You’re proactive and keen to contribute ideas that improve homes and tenant experience.

What We Offer:
  • Inclusive and Supportive workplace culture - interns join a friendly team environment where diverse backgrounds are valued, colleagues are approachable, and wellbeing is supported.
  • Meaningful Community Impact - By working on public-facing initiatives, such as housing, environmental, planning, or transformation projects, interns gain insight into local government’s role in improving residents’ lives and tackling community challenges.
  • Hybrid and flexible working - Interns benefit from a supportive work-life balance with options like hybrid working.
