Exciting Opportunity to Join Our London Opening Team as a Store Manager
We’re thrilled to announce the opening of our first international store on London’s prestigious King’s Road — a beautiful new space that brings together two of our portfolio brands, Janie and Jack and HATCH, under one roof. This co-branded location marks an exciting milestone in our global expansion. As Store Manager, you will lead the team, shape the culture, and deliver the exceptional service and storytelling that define our brands.
About the Job
As a Store Manager, you are the core of our success, a bold leader who brings passion, purpose, and entrepreneurial spirit to everything you do. You treat the business like it’s your own, inspiring your team to deliver an unforgettable, customer-first experience every day. You’re not just managing a store; you’re building a brand, growing a community, and driving results that make an impact. With a deep sense of ownership and pride, you lead with confidence, develop incredible talent, and set the standard for excellence. Reporting to the Country Manager, you will own the P&L and all KPIs for the store. You’ll partner closely with the E-Commerce Manager to ensure consistency of customer experience and storytelling across channels, while keeping primary accountability for in-store performance and execution.
What you’ll do
Champion a Unified Brand and Customer Experience
- Drive results and lead by example on the sales floor, modeling and coaching your team to build genuine, long-lasting customer relationships, that transform every interaction into a memorable experience and sale.
- Masterfully blend the distinct identities of Janie and Jack and Hatch, creating one seamless elevated shopping journey for the modern family – from pregnancy through childhood.
- Work with your Community Manager to execute in-store events and activations that build brand presence, drive traffic, and deepen connections with local families.
- Collaborate with product management and ecommerce to ensure omni-channel experiences (such as Click & Collect or returns) are seamless, reinforcing the same service and storytelling standards as in-store.
- Act as brand ambassador at local community events, influencer visits, and press activations, representing the warmth, style, and storytelling of Janie and Jack and HATCH.
Build and Inspire a High-Performing Team
- Build your team from the ground up, actively networking and recruiting top talent who embody our brand values and have a passion for creating exceptional customer moments.
- Motivate and inspire the team to exceed all sales and KPI targets through in-store selling, omni-channel service, and authentic customer service.
- Develop your team by identifying and assessing training needs, creating tailored training plans, and implementing various training methods to enhance employees’ skills and performance.
- Lead product knowledge training that empowers the team to confidently guide the modern mother from prenatal stage into motherhood.
- Create and maintain a positive and productive work environment that fosters diversity, inclusivity, teamwork, creativity, and a passion for the brand.
Drive Business Growth and Operational Excellence
- Use daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to analyze trends, forecast results, and adjust strategies in real time.
- Develop and execute clear action plans to achieve all business objectives, taking full ownership of the store P&L and KPI performance.
- Partner with the Country Manager to cascade commercial priorities, financial goals, and brand expectations. Share customer insights and in-store performance feedback to inform broader country-level and international strategies.
- Pioneer our UK omni-channel model by establishing an efficient in-store e-commerce fulfillment operation, ensuring exceptional order accuracy to deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Partner with e-commerce, marketing, and customer service teams to integrate digital and in-store experiences — including Click & Collect, in-store returns, and localized customer outreach.
- Manage all controllable expenses with a sharp business focus, including payroll, supplies, and store budget, to maximize profitability.
- Liaise with external vendors and Matri Group support functions (HR, Finance and Legal) to ensure smooth store operations and adherence to UK retail best practices.
- Implement visual and merchandising strategies to tell a cohesive brand story, captivate customers, and drive sales.
- Comply with all point-of-sale policies and procedures and properly execute operational functions.
- Ensure full compliance with UK employment law, health and safety regulations, and retail trading standards, maintaining the integrity and reputation of both brands.
- Maintain consistent policy enforcement and the accurate, timely processing of employee paperwork
- Ensure maintenance of store physical appearance and cleanliness.
Act as our UK Market Expert and Innovator
- Be the architect of our UK Store Operations. You will help establish and refine practices for this unique co-branded store model, from inventory flow to customer service protocols, shaping the model for future international locations.
- Serve as the critical voice of the UK customer. You will gather, analyze, and report on local market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform and shape Janie and Jack and HATCH international product and experience strategy.
Who you are
- Proven retail management experience (7+ years preferred) in specialty retail and/or multi-unit retail business preferred.
- Experienced leadership with demonstrated experience running a profitable store P&L and managing all KPIs with precision.
- Proven ability to identify top talent, build a team, train, develop, and retain people.
- Experience creating merchandising strategies and implementing visual changes to drive business results.
- Skilled collaborator who partners effectively across departments (Community, E-Commerce, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising) to maintain a unified brand experience.
- Confident decision-maker who thrives in autonomy, executes with discipline, and escalates or aligns cross-functional needs through the Country Manager.
- Proficient with POS systems, iPads, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Outstanding communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Passionate about leading your team to success.
- Acts with authenticity, sincerity, and transparency.
- Thrive in change and uncertainty and generate ideas to evolve and grow the business.
- Accountable for self and consistently holds others accountable.
- Operationally strong and resourceful.
- Available when needed, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak periods such as the holiday season.
- Ability to constantly bend, lift, carry and move merchandise and fixtures up to 18 kilograms as needed.
Why You’ll Love Working With Us
- The Product: Outstanding collections you’ll be proud to represent— plus, an irresistible employee discount.
- The People: Join a team known for our incredible talent, camaraderie, and support.
- The Experience: Build a rewarding career with respected children’s and maternity brands.
