Full job description

Solar Sales / Design Consultant – Chelsfield Solar

Chelsfield Solar is expanding, and we’re looking for a driven and professional Solar Sales / Design Consultant to support the next stage of growth within our solar division.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, takes pride in designing high‑quality solar PV systems, and wants to play a key part in building a fast‑growing renewable energy business. You’ll become one of our in‑house solar specialists, trusted to guide customers from first enquiry through to a well‑designed, well‑delivered installation. The position is a hybrid role, based partly from our office and partly on the road carrying out site visits and customer meetings.

What You’ll Do

· Lead customers from initial enquiry through to contract, delivering a clear, honest, and professional sales experience.

· Design bespoke solar PV systems using survey data, site conditions, and customer energy requirements.

· Prepare detailed technical and financial proposals, including performance forecasts, ROI, and energy savings.

· Carry out site visits and confidently present system designs to customers.

· Manage leads through the CRM, negotiate contracts, and close sales in line with agreed revenue targets.

· Work closely with surveyors, installers, designers, and project managers to ensure smooth project delivery.

· Keep up to date with solar technology, incentives, and regulations to ensure accurate advice is always given.

· Represent Chelsfield Solar at events, exhibitions, and community engagement sessions when required.

What We’re Looking For

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sales role (solar or renewables experience is highly desirable, but not essential).

· A solid understanding of solar PV systems, or the ability and willingness to develop this knowledge quickly (full training available).

· Confidence using IT systems, CRM platforms, and solar design tools.

· Ability to interpret survey information and translate it into practical, well‑designed systems.

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical customers.

· Highly organised, detail‑focused, and self‑motivated.

· Comfortable working independently while also collaborating as part of a growing team.

· Professional, customer‑focused, and committed to learning and development.

Essential Skills

· Experience using AutoCAD, OpenSolar, SolarEdge, or similar design and monitoring platforms.

Salary & Commission

· Competitive base salary, dependent on experience.

· Uncapped commission structure.

· Commission is designed to reward quality system design and successful project delivery, not just volume of sales.

Full details of the commission structure will be discussed at interview.

Our Hiring Process

· Skills interview with our Operations Manager (approximately 1 hour).

· Final interview with Chelsfield Solar Directors (approximately 1 hour).

If you’re looking for a role where quality, integrity, and long‑term customer value matter just as much as sales performance, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £25,000.00-£45,000.00 per year

  • On-site parking
