About Sarabande Foundation

Established by Lee Alexander McQueen, Sarabande is a charitable foundation supporting creative talent across fashion, art, design, and craft. Providing subsidised studios, grants & scholarships and a pioneering programme of public events, Sarabande operates at the intersection of creativity, education, and philanthropy.

Role Overview

Following the retirement of Sarabande’s current volunteer Finance Manager, we are recruiting someone to continue to provide strategic and operational financial oversight for the Foundation. Working closely with Sarabande’s CEO and board of trustees, the Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring robust financial governance, compliance and sustainability across our charitable and commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

  • Process and oversee payment of invoices and supplier accounts
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations, oversee bookkeeping, coding, VAT and overseas financial transactions
  • Manage and oversee the Foundation’s investment portfolio
  • Manage insurance policies and business rates
  • Provide financial and operational oversight of Sarabande’s café and HOB activities

Payroll, HR & Pensions

  • Oversee payroll and pension provider
  • Liaise with external HR agency

Governance, Legal & External Liaison

  • Act as Company Secretary, overseeing Charity Commission filing and creating agendas and minutes for Trustee meetings
  • Coordinate with external professionals including lawyers, accountants, and investment advisers, including on trademark and intellectual property
  • Oversee the Sarabande art collection, including liaison with Momart

Person Specification

Essential

  • Significant experience in finance management, accounting, or financial governance
  • Strong understanding of charity finance and regulatory requirements
  • Experience liaising with external advisers (accountants, lawyers, HR, investment managers)
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small organisation

Desirable

  • Experience as a Company Secretary or working with charity boards
  • Knowledge of VAT, payroll, pensions, and investment oversight
  • Interest in the arts, creative industries, or charitable sector
