About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Hadoop Developer to join our distributed data engineering team. This role is ideal for candidates ranging from fresh graduates to experienced professionals who are enthusiastic about big data technologies and large-scale data processing. You will work on designing, building, and maintaining robust Hadoop-based data solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and applications using the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • Work with tools such as HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Pig, Spark, HBase, Oozie, and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to design scalable big data solutions.
  • Implement ETL workflows and ensure data quality, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, security, and data integrity issues.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and technical discussions.
  • Work with large datasets and support analytics and business intelligence needs.
  • Stay updated with emerging big data tools, trends, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Foundational or professional experience with Hadoop and big data technologies (projects, coursework, internships, or industry experience).
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or Scala.
  • Understanding of distributed computing concepts and data structures.
  • Familiarity with SQL and querying tools such as Hive or Impala.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote setup.
  • Experience with Apache Spark for batch or streaming job development.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight, GCP Dataproc).
  • Knowledge of workflow/automation tools like Airflow or Oozie.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB).
  • Understanding of CI/CD practices and DevOps culture.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK (Valid Visa)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £25,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
