Job Description: Part-Time Geography Teacher

Position Title: Geography Teacher (Part-Time)

Location: The Pioneers Academy, Birmingham, B6 5UH

Contract Type: Part-Time, Permanent

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: £8,320 per annum (based on £80 per day, 2 days per week)

Job Purpose

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated part-time Geography Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and high-quality lessons that inspire students and promote excellent progress in Geography across KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Geography lessons tailored to the needs of all learners
  • Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (including GCSE Geography)
  • Set high expectations for student behaviour, effort, and achievement
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted feedback and support
  • Contribute to the development of the Geography curriculum
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the national curriculum and GCSE requirements
  • Participate in assessment, reporting, and parents’ evenings where applicable
  • Collaborate with colleagues to raise achievement and share best practice
  • Support or lead extracurricular Geography and humanities-based activities
  • Maintain accurate records in line with school policies
  • Engage in CPD and performance management activities

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
  • A degree in Geography or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching Geography at KS3 and KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Geography
  • High expectations for students of all abilities and backgrounds
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Willingness to support the school’s values and Islamic ethos

Desirable:

  • Experience in a faith-based or independent school
  • Understanding of Islamic values and respect for the school ethos
  • Proven experience in raising attainment at GCSE level
