Role

As an experienced infrastructure engineer, you will be working as part of our team developing & supporting our business platforms based on the Microsoft technology stack as well as VMWare and Veeam.

As we move into an upgrade phase of our infrastructure, this is an exciting time to be joining the team and provides opportunity to be involved in this critical piece of work applying your skills, learning new ones and sharing your knowledge and experience with the wider team.

This role will suit someone with a genuine passion for IT, can think on their feet and can adhere to strict deadlines and controls ensuring all work meets our high standards and ISO guidelines, as well as providing support for both our internal business platforms and external platforms used by our customers.

Role Profile

You will use your technical knowledge to deliver projects supporting the internal infrastructure and services used to provide customer solutions.

You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate a pragmatic approach, be flexible, and willing to occasionally work outside normal office hours when appropriate to achieve tasks critical for the success of the business.

You will be responsible for the provisioning, support, maintenance and operation of EE’s platform services and internal support. You will be working with other teams providing technical assistance with pre-sales requests and tender responses where necessary. You will be able to work alone or as part of a team with the ability to stay calm and productive under pressure. You should be self-motivated with excellent planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for the technical delivery of systems and network projects on secure, reliable and resilient platforms.

· To ensure compliance with the defined security policies regarding access to the internal systems.

· Strong understanding of all services within IT, particularly those pertaining to infrastructure.

· Strong time management and organisational skills.

· To ensure that the internal system’s up time is maintained at the optimal level.

· To maintain an accurate asset register.

· To ensure all systems and devices are updated and secured in a timely manner.

· To ensure that backups and business continuity procedures are adhered to.

· To make recommendations on potential improvements to internal systems to enhance service levels and security.

· Make sure all governance processes are followed, including standards and policies and ensure designs are approved by the technical design authority.

· Ensure changes being implemented are managed in a controlled and scheduled manner after approval from the Change Approval Board.

· Take ownership of key services within the systems and network support functions.

· Ensure requests are dealt with in a timely manner in accordance with SLA’s.

· Act as an escalation point for technical issues.

· To provide guidance and support to the wider IT services in line with the IT strategy.

Required skills

· Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication.

· Experience with Server Virtualisation (Hyper-V, VMWare).

· Microsoft Windows Technologies – Server & Desktop.

· Experience with Storage (SAN, NAS) technologies.

· Networking Fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing and switching).

· Ability to contribute to departmental processes.

· Willingness to adapt and think outside the box.

· You will have a proven track record in a technical role and have experience in producing appropriate documentation.

Desirable

· Microsoft Cloud Technologies (Azure, M365, Intune, Endpoint, AutoPilot).

· ITIL Foundation.

· Automating Technologies, e.g. PowerShell, Salamander.

· Microsoft System Centre Technologies.

· Vendor specific networking experience.
