Job Title: IT Operations Technician

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: Digital Services

Reporting to: IT Operations Team Leader

Salary: £23,555 - £24,631 per annum

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Basis: Full Time, Permanent

Pension: NEST Pension

As an IT Operations Technician at Middlesbrough College, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery and enhancement of digital services for staff, students, and visitors. This position requires exceptional customer service skills and strong problem-solving abilities to provide effective technical support across hardware, software, and network systems. You will collaborate with colleagues and educators to resolve IT issues promptly, assist with installations and upgrades, and contribute to projects that drive innovation and improve IT services—helping shape a technology-driven learning environment for the future.


What You’ll Be Doing:

As an IT Operations Technician, you will:

  • Prioritise the health, safety, and welfare of all individuals using the College’s services.
  • Recognise that supporting and enabling learning is the most critical aspect of the College’s provision.
  • Work within the Digital Services Team to deliver modern technologies, drive quality improvements, and meet customer expectations.
  • Provide a responsive reporting and resolution service for all requests, faults, and incidents to ensure service standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and industry codes of practice, policies, and procedures to satisfy regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Commit to the College’s Safeguarding Policy and actively promote a safe environment for children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

What We’re Looking For:

We seek candidates who:

  • Grade C or above in Maths or English (or equivalent) – Essential.
  • Relevant IT qualification at Level 2 – Essential.
  • ITIL v3 Foundation or above – Desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Audio Visual platforms and hardware.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • A passion for keeping up with the latest technology trends.
