Position: CNC Programmer
Location: Croydon

We are seeking a CNC Programmer to join a busy company who Manufacture Radiation Detection equipment. The CNC Programmer is required to perform machining tasks that will support the Company's drive for growth and customer on time delivery.

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all machining tasks without supervision, including programming and adherence to drawing, to a high level of precision.

Experience required includes blocking up, making fixtures, setting up collet head, using a sin bar, boring jaws for chuck, setting an angle plate, setting up a slitting saw/woodruff cutter, setting 4 axis, polar co-ordinates, rotation, varying types of materials, job planning and turning experience.

The CNC Programmer will be joining a small team and must be used to working in a team environment. The role may include supporting other departments so the applicant must have a professional attitude and good communication skills.

Extensive experience of CNC and conventional turning
  • Must be able to write and prove programs and hold extensive knowledge of Heidenhain
  • Work well in team environment
  • The CNC Programmer will complete work to designated deadlines
  • Experience required includes blocking up, making fixtures, setting up collet head, using a sin bar, boring jaws for chuck, setting an angle plate, setting up a slitting saw/woodruff cutter, setting 4 axis, polar co-ordinates, rotation, varying types of materials, job planning and turning experience.
  • The CNC Programmer will have an apprenticeship or other recognised qualification covering aspects of turning and milling
  • Ability to understand engineering drawings
  • The CNC Programmer must have the ability to work to high level of precision with tight tolerances and time schedules
  • Ability to communicate technically in accordance with work requirements
  • Flexibility in approach to work and required working hours.
Working week 37.5 Hours - 187.5 hours holiday per annum, this is equivalent to 5 weeks although approx. 3.5 days are deducted for Holiday shutdown at Christmas.
