Randstad Business Support are currently recruiting for a Graduate Process Engineer for a large Manufacturing company based in Cheltenham. The successful candidate

On top of the excellent salary the company offer a £400 a month payment in help of living expenses every month for the first 2 years.

The process engineer will support planned projects/improvements and identifies opportunities for continual process improvements for Operations. The Process Engineer will plan, develop and implement solutions for these improvements using sound engineering principles, Six Sigma methodology, and Lean manufacturing techniques. These efforts will result in improved product quality, reduced variation, less waste, reduced cost, improved reliability, increased efficiency, increased speed, improved employee safety, employee education and training, improved environmental status and greater overall system capability. The Process Engineer must be adaptable and flexible in assuming new and/or changing assignments.

Role responsibilities

  • Within operations, study and optimise all unit operations, stock preparation, resin production, drying, saturating, corrugating, winding, slitting, etc.
  • Within synthetic manufacturing operations, study and optimise all unit operations, resin transfer, additive blending, fibre forming, web forming, charging, collating, bonding, calendaring, slitting, winding, lamination, etc.
  • Execute commercialisation and production trials.
  • Aid in design of all process related capital projects.
  • Aid in development of Control Plans that result in higher CpK values on all key product families.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to process issues as appropriate.
  • Identify required capital needs for process improvements, aid in their design, prepare Plant Orders, and coordinate their start-up.
  • Analyses and plans work force utilisation, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Education:
  • BSc in one of the following disciplines: Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Paper Science.

Knowledge requirements:
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt principles.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles including 5S, value stream mapping, and Kaizen event design and facilitation.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Oracle.
