Lead Multi skilled engineer (electrical biased).


£28K-£32K holidays, bonus, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm to begin with then changing to shift 1 week 6am-14.30pm Mon-Fri second week 14.00pm-12.00am Mon-Thur.

The Role

Working for the engineering department in a family run SME manufacturing plant you will provide both electrical and mechanical skills and also mentor a junior mechanically biased engineer. You will be an electrically biased engineer with some mechanical knowledge and experience and will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance support across a wide range of manufacturing equipment. You may have completed maintenance at an Automotive, Plastic, Paper, Fabrication, Steel, textile, manufacturing site previously.
Your main duties will include, all electrical /mechanical maintenance of some ageing cutting slitting machinery and printers. You will complete fault finding and repairs on a daily basis and suggest ways to improve the PPM. Working to planned maintenance schedules, you will monitor machine performances and report maintenance downtime issues as well as analyze equipment to improve productivity. You will also be required to identify critical spares for designated machines and refurbish spares as required. You will also be required to work in a safe manner following all company policies and procedures and ensure all safety systems are in working order. The role will require some minor report writing using word and excel and carry out other reasonable requests as directed form the operations Manager. On occasions you will be expected to monitor external contractors.

The Candidate.

We are looking for candidate's with a really good attitude who will take ownership of electrical and mechanical maintenance at this manufacturing site. We are looking for candidate's who are comfortable mentoring a junior engineer and have a proactive and positive outlook. The successful engineer will play a key role within this company at a time of considerable growth and prosperity.
Candidates applying for this role will have worked in an electrically biased maintenance and service engineer position previously and ideally have exposure to working within a manufacturing/FMCG environment. Candidates will be expected to have completed an electrical apprenticeship/HNC/ City and Guilds part 3 and have a 17th edition qualification as well as relevant mechanical knowledge, experience or education. We are looking for candidates with at least 5 years' worth of work experience within an electrical discipline who are able to fault find, complete electrical maintenance, ideally have PLC controlled systems experience, and have worked with single phase machinery. We are looking for engineers who are I.T. literate and have done some minor report writing previously. We would like to meet candidates who are multi skilled and have some mechanical knowledge. Candidates who have worked previously with PLC's whether modifying or programming would be warmly received.
We are looking for proactive candidates who are professional and have a can do attitude. We are looking for engineers who are friendly, and have good communication skills and above all take pride in the work they are completing. The chosen candidates will have the regular responsibilities as well as project work to complete so you need to be able to self-manage yourself. The role is well paid and you are rewarded for your commitment but anyone who is against working overtime probably should not apply.
