We are currently recruiting for the position of Production Planner to work for a worldwide steel based organisation in Dudley. You will report into the Head of Operations and plan all machines to run efficiently with customer requirements, ensuring steel is produced and available to be delivered on time. You will work as part of a 4 strong production planning team. The successful candidate with have previous production planning experience ideally with some knowledge of slitting & blanking machines. This is a 6 month contract at a salary of £18,000

Responsibilities/Activities
  • Promote H&S policy in all activities carried out
  • Act at all times as an excellent ambassador of the company any in relationships with customers/suppliers
  • Working to the schedule/delivery date supplied by the sales department, call-in the required coil and raise the appropriate works order
  • Allocate to each production machine the appropriate works order to optimise production output and to satisfy customer delivery requirements
  • Arrange for the appropriate pallets to be made to satisfy customers packing requirements
  • Ensure any changes to schedules or customer requirement are conveyed to the appropriate team leader and priorities amended
  • Change machine loadings in the event of machine breakdowns or labour shortage
  • Liaise with both transport co-ordinators to ensure machine planning and customer requirements are satisfied
  • Participate in regular review meetings with the sales department and actively contribute in production issues
  • Measure, analyse and report machine downtimes and suggest machine downtime reductions with shift supervisors
  • Measure and report machine output versus targets
  • Lead by example portraying a professional manner to both internal and external customers
  • Raise any safety issue with Health & Safety Co-ordinator or Head of Operations
  • Be flexible and act upon any reasonable request issued by the Head of Operations
  • Work with all departments to ensure all daily duties are carried out in an efficient manner
  • Bring all areas together to create a strong team working environment
  • Follow all the requirements of quality standards as they apply to the role
  • Any other duties as required by the business
  • Call coils in from the docks - if applicable
  • Machine output - tonnes per hour - if applicable
Requirements
  • GCSE English and Maths
  • Professional Experience: 1-2 years
  • Good knowledge of machine capabilities
  • Good co-ordinator and team player
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
6 month contract
