Account Manager

Hours: 20–25 hours per week
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 FTE

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and organised Account Manager to support the management of client accounts and day‑to‑day financial operations within the practice. You will be responsible for preparing financial records, managing accounting processes, supporting compliance requirements, and maintaining strong, professional relationships with clients.
This part‑time role is ideal for someone who thrives in a practice environment, enjoys variety, and can manage multiple client accounts with accuracy and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Financial Management
- Manage a portfolio of client accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial reports
- Assist with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
- Prepare and review VAT returns and support HMRC compliance requirements
- Support payroll processing and maintain payroll‑related records where required
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and client financial transactions
- Assist with year‑end accounts preparation and liaise with senior accountants and external stakeholders
- Analyse financial information and identify discrepancies or areas requiring attention
- Maintain accounting documentation and ensure records are updated accurately
- Support audit preparation activities and respond to financial information requests
2. Client Relationship Management
- Act as a point of contact for clients regarding accounting and financial queries
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with clients
- Assist clients with accounting software usage and financial documentation requirements
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of services
- Provide practical support and guidance to clients on routine accounting matters
3. Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, accounting standards, and HMRC regulations
- Review accounting processes and identify opportunities for operational improvements
- Assist with implementation of accounting systems and process enhancements
- Support the practice in maintaining high standards of financial accuracy and client service
Skills & Experience Required
- ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years post qualified experience in practice
- Experience in delivering Payroll, VAT, ST/Partnership/Ltd Company Accounts, and Self-assessment tax returns
- Good knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
- Professional approach to client communication and financial confidentiality
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
