PLAY WORKER

Teachsport Lewisham is looking for an After School Club Leader to join our teams in Brockley and Deptford.

This is a part-time position, hours are 2.45pm-6pm during term-time. There is the opportunity to work extra hours during the school holidays at one of our activity camps.

Job summary: Our vibrant After School club settings are based on school sites. Take care of children after school, engage with them and ensure they are safe.

We provide quality play care within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures.

Line manager: Settings Manager

Working relationships: Children attending the club, their parents/carers and school staff

Management and staff, including students and volunteers

We are looking for a person who is:

  • Organised, enthusiastic, well-motivated individual who enjoys working with children and takes pride in their work
  • Reliable, good time keeping, confident dealing with parent questions
  • Able to work in a team of staff, be calm and willing to undertake any training relevant to the post, including first aid and food hygiene
  • Confident to liaise with school staff and Teachsport colleagues
  • Experienced in a Childcare environment is preferred
  • Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children*

Desirable qualities

  • Appropriate Level 2 (or above) qualification (Child Care related)
  • Experience of working within a play-based setting
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Appropriate child protection training
  • Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
