Job Title: Animal Care/ Dog Grooming Trainer Coach - (Assessor / Tutor)

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours p/w

Salary: £23,400.00 - £26,500.00 per annum

Summary of Role: The chosen candidate will be a high performing, qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a team and has a thirst for delivering high quality and service to all concerned parties. Experience in the delivery of Apprenticeship Standards and the differences in the sector post 2017 reforms is highly desirable.

As a Haddon Trainer Coach, you will manage a caseload of learners through every stage of their apprenticeship journey which includes:

This will include supporting the entire learner journey, including:

· Enrolment / induction and initial assessment

· Animal care and Dog Grooming teaching, learning and assessment

· Coaching / mentoring

· Delivery of Functional Skills English and math

· Supporting the wider curriculum (PREVENT, British Values, Safeguarding, ICT, Information, Advice and Guidance, etc.)

· Invigilation of exams

· Correct completion of mandatory paperwork to evidence all aspects of the learner journey to an auditable standard

You will work closely with learners and employers and report to your Area Manager, as well as being fully supported by a Curriculum Specialist for the delivery for your learners to achieve the required Functional Skills and Internal Quality Assurers (IQA’s) to ensure a high level of quality throughout the delivery of the programme.

Essential industry specific qualifications and experience:

· Considerable/Proven recent experience working in the relevant animal care sector specifically within dog grooming, which they would be teaching and assessing

· Passion for work-based learning

· Up-to-date, relevant, deep and broad experience of working within the animal industry

· Experience at a level within the animal industry that is above Level 3

· Experience in the occupational area of the apprenticeships including practical and current knowledge of working practices, infrastructure, tools and technologies to support applications.

· Occupational competence with a comprehensive and proven track record of service in the animal industry supported by a detailed and documented CPD record

· Extensive knowledge and experience of animal anatomy, physiology and welfare

· Extensive knowledge and experience of animal behaviour and nutrition

· Demonstrable knowledge of safe working practices in an animal care environment including routine duties and animal husbandry

· Demonstrate knowledge of various grooming techniques including bathing, drying and styling; wool, wool-mix, silk and wire coats

Essential qualifications and experience:

· Minimum level 3 animal care qualification or equivalent

· Level 2 dog grooming qualification

· Experience working within the animal care sector

· Commitment to continuous professional development relevant to the industry area being assessed

Essential knowledge and skills:

· Excellent integrity and interpersonal skills

· Customer focused commercial awareness

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with substantive experience of providing supportive, concise feedback to learners, assessors and key stakeholders

· Ability to offer guidance on careers advice and next steps after completing a Traineeship or Apprenticeship

· Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively

· Proficient IT skills that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

· Ability to work independently but also as part of a team

· Driving licence with access to own car

Desirable:

· Holding or working towards an assessor qualification (A1/A2/D32/D33/TAQA or equivalent qualification)

· Level 2 Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT

· Experience of preparing for and presenting to a target audience

· Experience of marking and grading assessments

· Relevant teaching qualification (minimum PTTLS) or Education and Training Level 3 or 4

· Experience of working with and maintaining quality assurance processes and complying with regulatory requirements

· An understanding of Apprenticeship Standards, with specific knowledge about the relevant industry area for the role

· Experience of producing clear, accurate and concise written reports, including remarks/enquiries about results

· Excellent investigative skills

· Analytical, critical thinking skills
