We opened our flagship bakery school in Borough Market, London, in 2014 to show the public just how easy baking good bread can be. About the role

Bread Ahead are seeking a talented and charismatic Bakery School Teacher to act as an ambassador for artisanal baking and deliver a high-quality learning experience for our Bakery School customers.

You will be responsible for delivering a range of Bread Ahead Bakery School courses, including the pre-course set up, teaching, management of the classroom and maintaining your working environment. You will be responsible for all aspects of the customer experience, ensuring that their time spent in our Bakery School is productive and enjoyable. Food safety and hygiene is a key responsibility, and you will be responsible for ensuring rules and regulations are adhered to at all times.

As you are passionate about keeping up to date with the latest trends and developments in the artisanal baking world, you will also be involved in the review of our suite of courses and have the opportunity to be involved in the design and development of new ideas and curriculums to aid Bread Ahead in expanding their portfolio and create new and exciting content for our customer base.

About you

You are a seasoned baker with proven experience in a busy, professional, artisan bakery or pastry environment and have had experience teaching or delivering training.

Alongside your passion for great food, the customer experience is at the heart of everything you do. Your interpersonal skills will shine through, and you will possess excellent communication and teaching delivery skills. You’re agile, dynamic and can quickly react to any situation be that a customer complaint, a failed delivery or anything in between.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

· Teach and manage learning activities on a range of workshops provided by Bread Ahead.

· Develop and prepare curriculum, course plans, learning materials, assignments, activities and assessments for customer learning as and when required.

· Be responsible for all aspects of classroom management and the customer experience. Including food hygiene and health and safety compliance.

· Contribute to the development, promotion and marketing of new courses and new approaches to teaching and learning.

· Contribute to the review of learning programmes.

· Ensure that they are up to date with current trends and developments within the baking industry.

· Demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm to promote the principle of equality and diversity in employment and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

· Minimum seven years professional baking/pastry experience.

· Minimum 2 years teaching or other relevant experience.

· Professional knowledge and experience of artisan baking techniques and methods.

· Open and friendly approach to your work and bakery students.

· Good communicator that must be confident relaying technical and sometimes complicated subject matters to novice bakers.

· A good people person, you would naturally enjoy working with others.
