About Us

Ministry of Sound opened in 1991 in a disused bus garage in a forgotten corner of South London. It was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence, didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially constructed dance box. We went on to become the world’s largest independent record company and stage giant dance events, including one for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome.

We were pioneers in electronic music and have a history of taking risks, innovation, and colourful and creative marketing. As a business we don’t take ourselves too seriously, like to laugh and have fun, but we have high standards, a relentless attention to detail and the continuous improvement of our product, and we work hard as a team. We hate cliché, doing things the way others do and continuously seek to differentiate our brands and products almost as a point of pride. We are a pioneering international brand that continually evolves and disrupts notions of space, sound and music.

Ministry of Sound is a venue synonymous with excellence. We host the best artists, the best sound system, the best production and we deliver the best service. This has brought us the accolade of being described as one of the clubbing wonders of the world.

Our exclusive VIP area includes private bar and facilities with a comfortable private seating area and views over The Box and The 103. Unrivalled and personable customer service is essential, as are those personal touches whilst ensuring our guests have an unforgettable night.

Thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a workspace run as a member’s club, in a 50,000 sq. ft Victorian warehouse in SE1. The design is relaxed but functional with a bar, opening windows, an outside courtyard and plenty of space to sit, relax, work and socialise – everything you wouldn’t expect to find in a standard office. There’s great home cooked F&B, a state-of-the-art gym and fitness studio with daily classes, together with a cultural and business events programme.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Bar Manager that has a track record of running high volume fast paced venues.

You should have managed a variety of projects with limited intervention and have a keen motivation for learning the wider business. You would ideally hold a personal license and have experience closing a building at the end of the day.

You will have overseen or been involved in event management and delivery for promoted nights and been in charge of overseeing beverage development, stock control, team training and service and standards.

You will have natural charm, flare, and presence to be the face of the operation. This doesn’t mean stuffy or formal; we are neither of these.

You will have motivation, energy and attention to detail at the forefront of everything you do and demand an organised, impeccably clean and well-presented environment from your team constantly.

You will have creative knowledge, imagination, and ability to contribute to the development of bespoke events eg creative menus for events.

You will lead the team, manage relationships with our suppliers as well as our brand partners and be responsible for negotiating contracts, making sure they are adhered to as well as invoicing for retros or listing fees.

You will be open to feedback and react quickly to improve our products and customer experience relentlessly.

You will be commercially minded, understand budgets, stock management and quality control. Previous use of Zonal and Power BI would be beneficial.

A capacity for hard work, natural ability to get on with people, a passion for London's night scene and a sense of humour are a must.

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who wants to grow professionally and personally, striving for constant improvement in the bar at The Ministry Of Sound .

Role is a mixture of office based day shifts and club night shifts, flexible Mon-Sun.
