Title: Buyer

Reporting to Commercial Director

Location: Office based role & will consider part time role

Role & Responsibilities

Lead Buyer for Bridge Cheese for the following categories

  • Packaging
  • Non-dairy ingredients
  • Chemicals
  • Consumables
  • Energy (fuel, electricity and water)
  • Indirect spend (e.g. phones, broadband, stationery)
  • Oversee supplier management for external warehousing, storage and logistics providers.
  • Lead tendering and supplier selection processes for business services, working closely with relevant department heads (e.g. lab testing, weights and measures, laundry, cleaning, waste, and annual servicing contracts).
  • Support engineering procurement by working with the Engineering team to identify and approve suppliers, monitor expenditure, and drive cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage ad-hoc purchasing requirements in line with business needs.
  • Support capital expenditure (CapEx) activities, including supplier sourcing, cost control, and procurement of equipment and services.

Tasks

  • Work closely with Procurement & Logistics to ensure daily issues are resolved effectively
  • Coordinate supplier appraisal processes and service review meetings, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Ensure all slow-moving materials are identified, with corrective action plans agreed
  • Coordinate import activities
  • Lead the weekly Purchasing meeting
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities across suppliers, products, and projects
  • Ensure all non-conformances and supplier issues are managed in a timely manner
  • Support the introduction of new suppliers to the business
  • Maintain supplier performance metrics and coordinate regular review meetings
  • Identify new suppliers that bring innovation and competitive advantage to the business

The Person

  • Previous buying/procurement experience with a strong focus on cost savings and efficiency improvements
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify opportunities and deliver measurable results
  • Proven track record within a similar role
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments

Pay: £28,000.00 per year
