CAD Engineer

About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Engineer to support the design and delivery of engineering and construction projects. This role will focus on producing accurate technical drawings, design documentation, and supporting project teams with high-quality CAD outputs.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure drawings are produced accurately, revised efficiently, and aligned with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software
• Create design layouts, detailed drawings, and as-built drawings for project delivery
• Revise and update drawings in line with project changes and client feedback
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, technical standards, and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams to gather design information
• Maintain drawing registers and document control procedures
• Support project planning by producing drawings within agreed deadlines
• Review design documentation to identify errors or clashes before issue
• Assist with design coordination across multiple project stakeholders
• Ensure all drawings are correctly stored and version controlled

Requirements

• Previous experience as a CAD Engineer, CAD Technician, or Design Engineer
• Strong experience using AutoCAD (essential)
• Experience using Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, or similar software is advantageous depending on sector
• Strong understanding of technical drawings and engineering principles
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple drawing packages simultaneously
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

Desirable Experience

• Experience within civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways, or building services projects
• Experience producing as-built drawings
• Understanding of design coordination and project delivery processes

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Engineering, Design, CAD, or related discipline
• HNC/HND/Degree preferred but not essential depending on experience
