Working with young people aged 8-25 years old.
You will have the freedom to shape, facilitate and deliver activities based on your skills and interests and these could include sports activity, cooking, arts, music work, outdoor activities etc and will support young people to achieve a range of outcomes... including seeing how fun, engaging community activities and positive peer relationships combined with support and effective mental health knowledge can benefit your wellbeing and mental health.
The youth work will link with partner and funders aims, and you will develop a good working relationship with local schools, APA's, social care, police, YOS, VCS, parents and the community.
Young People Cornwall youth centres are open to all young people, and our youth work trauma informed approach enables us to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with young people in these communities. We are mindful of their whole lives, working with positive and considered regard to their families and the communities they live in. We deliver a range of projects including open access drop-ins, detached work, programme group work, targeted work with young people experiencing mental ill health and other issues. We offer a range of programmes and services but they all have one thing in common; putting the young person in control and engaging with them on their terms – to support their needs and aspirations. Young people are given opportunities to influence the planning, design & delivery of all our programmes at project level through to attending trustee meetings. We enable young people to have their voices heard at local, regional and national strategic levels. You will ensure that delivery is based on what young people want and need and is developed with them. Young people will be given the skills to increase aspirations, address needs and reach their potential.
