An exciting opportunity to lead and develop the Clinical Psychology Services for children, young people and their families at Starjumpz. Providing specialist psychological assessment, treatment and psychological care. Providing advice and consultation on children’s psychological care to colleagues and to carers. Starjumpz is a leading independent multidisciplinary children and young people’s assessment and treatment centre with an innovative and friendly team known for its pioneering holistic approach and exceptional care. We are passionate about supporting children, young people and their families working collaboratively with them to achieve the best possible outcomes. Our team includes Paediatricians, Functional Medicine Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapists, CBT, Play Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists (ADOS trained), Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist, Neurofeedback Practitioners and Nutrition Consultant.
Established in 1989, Starjumpz provides local and national services, as well services for international clients. Starjumpz Children’s Centre is based in Crowborough East Sussex, close to Tunbridge Wells, in a beautiful well equipped 3000 sq ft centre with stunning countryside views and its own on-site parking.
We are expanding our Psychology services to meet demand both for diagnostic assessments and for clinical psychology services. We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist who is ADOS trained and able to diagnose Autism and ADHD. Diagnostic assessments would be conducted with another experienced ADOS trained member of the team, speech and language therapist or clinical psychology assistant.
We are interested also in finding Clinical Psychologists who can support Starjumpz clients with psychological services and support in addition to the diagnostic assessments using ADOS.
The candidate will need to be experienced in assessment and management of a range of conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Attachment disorder, Developmental trauma, Dyspraxia/ DCD, Sensory Processing Difficulties and related challenges impacting development, learning and behaviour.
Enthusiasm and innovation will be welcomed and there is a flexibility for developing a specialist interest caseload with the support of our clinical psychology assistant. The team works closely with schools, the NHS, Adoption Support, social services, and charities.
Experience in working with Post Adoption and Looked After Children (LAC) would be advantageous.
As mental health issues are often a secondary result of/or comorbid aspect of neurodevelopmental conditions, a candidate with experience in mental health and its related management and interventions would also be a highly valuable addition to our team.

Online services, in addition to our onsite services, some clinical psychology services are offered using teletherapy. Online workshops and courses are also offered and there are plans to develop these services to support more families.
Starjumpz has an ADOS trained Clinical Assistant, a psychology graduate who in addition to carrying out work assisting with ADOS assessments and conducting QbCheck screening assessment for ADHD, works in the practice management team. She has an in-depth understanding of our client’s needs and will support this role as an assistant as the caseload grows.
Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties
These may vary depending on whether this is an Employed or Self- Employed Role and on the hours available.
Clinical
To provide specialist psychological assessments of children and young people based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and consultations with child, family and others involved in their care.
To conduct diagnostic assessment for Autistic Spectrum Disorder using the ADOS assessment tool, parent and teacher questionnaires, rating scales, direct and indirect clinical observations in conjunction with an ADOS trained clinician such as a Speech and Language Therapist or Clinical Assistant.
To formulate and implement a range of psychological interventions for children and young people their families and carers.
To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment and treatment options taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual and their family.
To provide specialist psychological guidance and consultation to other professionals involved in the child’s care.
To undertake risk assessments and risk management as appropriate for individual children and to provide advice to other professionals on the psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
To act as a care coordinator where appropriate taking responsibility for initiating and planning and review of care plans.
To communicate in a skilled manner sensitive information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of children and young people, and to monitor progress during the course of both uni-disciplinary and multidisciplinary care.
Teaching, training and supervision
To receive regular clinical professional supervision as appropriate.
To gain experience and skills relevant to clinical psychology and/or the service as agreed with the director.
To develop skills in the area of professional postgraduate teaching, training and supervision and to provide supervision to other multidisciplinary staff’s psychological work as appropriate.
To provide professional and clinical supervision as required to contribute to the pre and post-qualification training teaching of clinical staff as appropriate.
To provide advice consultation and training to staff working with children across a range of agencies and settings where appropriate.
Management recruitment policy and service development
To contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of Starjumpz operational policies and services through the deployment of professional skills in research, service evaluation and audit.
To advise Starjumpz management team on those aspects of the service where psychological and any other organisational matters need addressing.
To manage the workloads of clinical assistants and psychologists within the framework of the service, as appropriate.
To be involved as appropriate in the shortlisting and interview of psychologists and others offering psychological services.
Research and service evaluation
To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
To undertake appropriate research and provide research advice to other staff undertaking research.
To undertake project management including complex audit and service evaluation with colleagues to help develop service provision.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes in consultation with the director.
To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in psychology across the service by continuing to develop skills of a reflexive and reflective practitioner taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of clinical psychology and related disciplines.
To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with the professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and the policies and procedures of Starjumpz.
To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to Starjumpz clients and in mental health.
General

Candidates will need to have:
· Accredited doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
· A holistic approach to assessment, treatment and management of conditions
· Experience working with children who have neurodevelopmental and mental health conditions.
· Ability to evaluate and make decisions about treatment options/recommendations considering theoretical and therapeutic models.
· Ideally ADOS training and experience, ability to diagnose Autism and ADHD
· A multidisciplinary team-oriented approach.
· Excellent communication skills.
· High quality written communication and report writing.
· Ability to communicate to parents and children in a sensitive, approachable manner the results of assessments, and formulation of treatment plans in a way that is accessible and easy to understand.
· HCPC registered and British Psychological Society BPS accredited.
· Relevant statutory and mandatory training
