Job Title: Commis Chef

Salary: £19K - £21k basic depending on experience.

Commis Chef Responsibilities:

  • Ingredient Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients and dishes in line with the farm's ethos and seasonal availability.
  • Quality Control: Participate in quality checks to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
  • Food Hygiene and Safety: Follow strict standards of food hygiene, preparation, and presentation.
  • Supporting Menu Development: Contribute ideas and support the implementation of the menu developed by the Sous Chef and Head Chef.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth operation.
  • Waste Management: Support the zero-waste approach in daily kitchen activities.
  • Learning and Adaptation: Engage in continuous learning about organic and farm-to-table cuisine and adapt practices accordingly.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Hands-On Approach: Willingness to engage with the farm, understanding the produce's journey firsthand.
  • Professional Qualifications: Relevant culinary qualifications.
  • Solid knowledge of kitchen best practices, food safety, and health regulations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
