General Description

As Commissioning Engineer, you will be required to work both in the office and on customer sites both in the UK and Worldwide. This role will often require you to work on your own initiative, sometimes under pressure.

The position will also encompass team working on larger projects. The organisation intends to recruit trainee and/or lesser qualified members of staff and from time to time you may be required to provide assistance to their continued learning and development.

Basic Function

To carry out duties and activities allotted under the job title and contract of employment including general aspects associated with the office environment and Health & Safety.

Reporting directly to the Service & Commissioning Manager, will not be responsible for the management of any staff.

Main Duties

  • To carry out the commissioning of food and confectionary process systems as required the management and department manager.
  • Carry out any requests for commissioning and client training in the UK and worldwide from management, service department manager, sales, projects and technical department.
  • Liaise with project manager, software department and production manager to ensure that all departments and staff complete the necessary contract and site pack documentation including the following:

1. Daily logs, delay logs, variation to contract orders, calibration certificates, project completion certificates, breakdown, site service and survey duplicate sheets.

2. All training documents and records of client training (with client signatures) are generated and on completion returned to projects file.

  • Wherever possible assist in the pre-delivery testing of equipment and control panels in line with our company quality and safety systems.
  • Provide customer feedback to all relevant departments to ensure continual improvement is achieved.
  • Work within a safe manner (as per BCH (Rochdale) Ltd Health and Safety Policy) at all times and observe department protocol Procedure SD1.
  • Any other duties required by supervisors, managers and directors.

Skill Set requirement

  • Electrical bias
  • Mechanical advantageous
  • Advanced modern apprenticeship or equivalent
  • HNC electrical electronic engineering (ONC Minimum)
  • Food industry experience but not essential
  • PLC knowledge and experience
  • Able to work alone in a position of responsibility
  • Good communicator
  • Flexible working attitude
  • Available for working regular overtime and weekends
  • Regular work away from home including overseas work. (Being away for long periods is common to this role)
  • Windows OS including office

To operate where the job/position demands (either in the UK or overseas, when necessary). Working away from home for long periods is common in this role.
